Virtual Server Rescue Image Updated

Virtual Server Rescue Image Updated

We've updated our Virtual Server rescue image. Originally based on DSL (Damn Small Linux) the rescue image is similar to booting your server to cd or a usb drive.

It allows you to perform maintenance, modify files, etc. on your actual servers drive.

However, the DSL based image (2.4 kernel series) while small and filled with tools has proven to be too limiting for newer instances. We've therefore decided to upgrade our rescue image, and it is now based on Debian 5.

The new image gives you tremendous flexibility to install packages, as necessary to work on and repair your server. Customers on v2 will automatically have the new image deployed by entering rescue mode.

Thanks,
the Host Virtual Team
