Celebrating 10 Years as NetActuate! Read the Blog
NetActuate is committed to supporting the open source software (OSS) projects critical to the internet. We provide global infrastructure to keep community-driven projects strong, sustainable, and truly independent.
Open Source gives users alternatives to closed, proprietary ecosystems, and reduces vendor lock-in.
Open source for high-availability infrastructure helps ensure critical services stay online for users around the globe.
Open source is the de facto way to create software today and it literally “takes a village” to fill critical, unaddressed technology gaps.
Through donations we support the communities and projects that the internet relies on:

We are active, contributing members of internet governance bodies, including AFRINIC, APNIC, ARIN, ICANN, Global Peering Forum, and NANOG. These communities are critical for addressing the pressing regulatory, infrastructure, networking challenges that affect us all.
In order to help ccTLDs (country code top-level domain providers) in emerging markets meet and overcome challenges with security, resiliency, and network performance, NetActuate offers a free Anycast DNS services to ccTLDs with under 100,000 primary zones. This helps emerging ccTLDs better serve their communities with the network and infrastructure needed to build a self-sustaining, long-term service.

Over the last 20 years, open source software has been an integral element of our global edge infrastructure and network. Building with open source offers maximum choice and flexibility for our customers.
Our global platform is built on open technologies like KVM and Open vSwitch to maintain interoperability and transparency.

NetActuate supports open source projects because they are essential to a secure, resilient, and innovative internet. By providing global infrastructure to key community-driven initiatives, NetActuate helps ensure these projects remain independent, sustainable, and accessible for everyone.
NetActuate donates bare-metal servers, networking hardware, virtual machines, storage, and Anycast DNS services. These resources support critical operations for open source projects like FreeBSD, CPAN, and the NTP Pool—enabling faster development, better reliability, and improved global performance.
NetActuate’s “Open Source First” approach prioritizes transparency, flexibility, and vendor independence. By using tools like Terraform, Ansible, and OpenTofu—and building on open standards like KVM and Open vSwitch—NetActuate ensures customers can deploy infrastructure globally without being locked into proprietary systems.
