On Demand Webinar: Beyond Hyperscalers - Smarter Infrastructure for Growing Companies

Explore

NetActuate’s BGP Support lets you take control of how your traffic routes into and out of NetActuate’s global platform. Whether you are running infrastructure in a single POP or spanning dozens of locations, you can configure BGP sessions to advertise your own space, control your policies, and tune routing behavior at a granular level. It’s DIY BGP.

Shared Anycast IP Use Cases

  • Global DNS and Edge Services: Serve authoritative DNS or APIs close to your users.
  • Hybrid Deployments: Attach a global IP to a POP and tunnel back to legacy or cloud environments.
  • Testing & QA: Validate edge performance or multi-region behavior without full platform migration.
  • Lightweight SaaS: Power login services, failover redirectors, telemetry endpoints, and more.

Ideal for infrastructure-savvy NetActuate customers who want complete control over their network routing behavior. This self-managed feature enables prefix advertisement, routing policy management, and interconnection with our global network. It’s best suited for technical teams managing their own ASN or working with delegated IP space.

NetActuate operates one of the most interconnected platforms in the world—over 7,500 peers globally—providing direct access to carriers, clouds, IXs, and content networks. With BGP Support, you get all the benefits of this ecosystem while keeping full autonomy over your routing configuration.

Basic BGP is included for free with NetActuate’s IP Transit, Virtual Machine, Bare Metal, and Colocation products.

Note: If you're looking for a fully managed platform for Anycast deployments, policy automation, and traffic optimization, explore our BGP Anycast Platform.

BGP Sessions from Any Service

What it is?

Establish BGP sessions from virtual machines, bare metal, colocation, or over IP transit across any of our global POPs.

Why it matters?

Provides consistent routing control across your infrastructure, no matter where or how it’s deployed.

Blended, Multi-Homed Network

What it is?

NetActuate connects to thousands of peers and transit providers, delivering a globally optimized, multi-path network by default.

Why it matters?

Improves performance, resiliency, and cost control without needing your own global carrier contracts.

BGP Community Support

What it is?

Over 100 supported communities for fine-grained control of announcements, blackholing, path prepends, and regional visibility.

Why it matters?

Puts the power of routing control in your hands with standardized, documented behavior.

Auto IRR & RPKI Filtering

What it is?

Prefixes are automatically validated against IRR and RPKI data before acceptance.

Why it matters?

Prevents hijacks and simplifies the onboarding of new space or customers.

Tunnel Routing Support

What it is?

Route ingress and egress via GRE, WireGuard, IPsec, or other tunnels to extend routing to cloud or third-party platforms.

Why it matters?

Adds flexibility for hybrid and edge environments that don’t support direct peering.

Blackholing & Optional DDoS Protection

What it is?

Prefix-level blackhole via BGP community, with optional mitigation services available as an add-on.

Why it matters?

Gives you defensive tools during attack scenarios while retaining traffic control.

Bandwidth Aggregation and Pricing Flexibility

What it is?

Available billing models include per-GB, 95th percentile ISP billing, and flat/unmetered ports. Bandwidth aggregation available by region or contract.

Why it matters?

Helps optimize for workload usage patterns and simplifies planning across services.

Route Visibility and Portal Management

What it is?

Integrated portal includes live route views, session status, logging, and visibility tools.

Why it matters?

Simplifies troubleshooting and verification without requiring command-line access.

Custom SLA Options

What it is?

Support tiers and SLAs are available based on required responsiveness, propagation, or availability guarantees.

Why it matters?

Critical for compliance or SLA-backed customer services.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need my own ASN?

No, you can use a private ASN if leasing IPs or receiving SWIP’d blocks. Most customers prefer to use their own ASN for full control.

Can I use this for Anycast?

Yes. BGP Basic supports self-managed anycast deployments. If you want managed routing, steering, and DDoS protection, explore our BGP Anycast Platform.

Is it available on virtual machines?

Yes. You can terminate BGP sessions from inside VMs or containers as long as the OS supports it.

How is DDoS handled?

Blackhole signaling is included. Full mitigation is available as an add-on.

Can I aggregate bandwidth across deployments?

Yes. Contract-based pooling across services and regions is available.

What visibility do I have?

Real-time route propagation, session status, prefix filters, and metrics are all available in the NetActuate portal.

Can I get help with setup?

Yes. While BGP Basic is self-managed, our support team and Professional Services Organization (PSO) can assist based on your support level.
