Unified Origin is Unified Streaming's just-in-time packaging and origin server. It packages a single set of source files on the fly into HLS, MPEG-DASH, Smooth Streaming and HDS, with DRM, timed metadata, subtitles and server-side ad insertion (SSAI), so you keep one mezzanine and serve every player and device. Deployed from the NetActuate marketplace it boots configured from your seeded values: bring your own Unified Streaming license key (BYOL), pick the HTTP port, and optionally point it at S3 or HTTP remote storage. Place Media Presentation (.ism) content on the appliance volume or in remote storage and Origin serves the requested format just in time.
This appliance wraps the official Unified Origin 1.15.20 Docker image (unifiedstreaming/origin) on Ubuntu 24.04 LTS. The engine (Apache with the Unified Streaming module) requires a valid license and checks it with Unified Streaming over the network when serving. Unified Origin is a commercial product of Unified Streaming; NetActuate packages and hosts the appliance and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Unified Streaming. Marketing copy is a placeholder pending the partner content pass.
