Deploying Bare Metal

Overview

This guide walks you through provisioning a dedicated bare metal server on the NetActuate platform. Bare metal servers provide full physical hardware without virtualization overhead.

Prerequisites

  • A NetActuate account with an active subscription
  • At least one SSH key added to your account (see SSH Keys)
  • A target location selected for your deployment

Step 1: Navigate to Bare Metal

  1. In the top navigation bar, click Infrastructure.
  2. In the left sidebar, click Bare Metal.
  3. Click + Add in the top-right corner to open the deployment form.

Step 2: Select a Location

  1. Choose a Region from the dropdown.
  2. Choose a POP / City within that region where bare metal hardware is available.

Step 3: Choose a Hardware Configuration

  1. Select a Server Configuration that matches your workload requirements. Configurations specify the CPU, RAM, disk type and capacity, and network interfaces.

Note: Available configurations vary by location. The portal will only display hardware options that are available at your selected POP.

Step 4: Choose an Operating System

  1. Select an OS Image from the available options (e.g., Ubuntu, CentOS, Debian, Windows Server).

Step 5: Configure Your Server

  1. Enter a Hostname for your server.
  2. Select one or more SSH Keys to inject into the server.
  3. Optionally, add Tags for resource organization.

Step 6: Deploy

  1. Review your selections.
  2. Click Deploy.

Your bare metal server will be provisioned and appear in the Bare Metal list. Provisioning may take several minutes as the physical hardware is configured. Once the status shows as running, connect via SSH:

ssh root@<your-server-ip>
