What It Does
Airsonic-Advanced is a free, self-hosted music streaming server. Point it at your music library and stream it to yourself and your friends over the web UI or through the large ecosystem of Subsonic and OpenSubsonic apps for Android, iOS, and the desktop.

Deployed from the NetActuate marketplace, the appliance boots pre-configured from your seeded values. On first boot it initializes the database on loopback only, rotates the built-in admin account to your generated password directly in the database, and only then serves on the network, so the upstream default admin and admin credentials are never exposed. Sign in at the web UI on port 4040 as user admin with the password in your secret list, then add your music folders. Airsonic serves plain HTTP on port 4040; put a TLS-terminating proxy in front before exposing it to the public internet.

Using the Appliance
Start streaming in minutes
- Open the web UI. Browse to http://YOUR_VM_IP:4040/ and sign in as user admin with the admin password from your secret list. The upstream default admin/admin login has already been retired at first boot.
- Add your music. In Settings, add a Media Folder pointing at where you upload your music, then start a scan.
- Use any Subsonic app. Point a Subsonic or OpenSubsonic client at http://YOUR_VM_IP:4040 with user admin and your password, and stream.
Exposure posture: Airsonic serves plain HTTP on port 4040. Before exposing the appliance to the public internet, put a TLS-terminating proxy in front of it or restrict access to trusted source IPs.
FAQ
Is there a software license fee? No. Airsonic-Advanced is open source and free to run. You pay only for the NetActuate infrastructure and bandwidth.
Which port does the appliance serve on?
The primary service is published on port 4040 by default; see the configuration fields for any adjustable ports.
Who supports it? NetActuate operates the underlying infrastructure. The application itself is community-supported open source (best-effort SLA class).
