Wowza Streaming Engine
Wowza Streaming Engine is a battle-tested commercial media server for reliable live and video-on-demand streaming, available in the NetActuate Marketplace as a bring-your-own-license (BYOL) appliance you can deploy into any PoP. It ingests from virtually any source, transcodes and packages on the fly, and delivers adaptive streams over HLS, MPEG-DASH, WebRTC, SRT, RTMP, and RTSP, all administered through the web-based Wowza Streaming Engine Manager. This appliance is grouped under the Media & Streaming category.
What It Does
Wowza Streaming Engine handles the full path from ingest to delivery for live and on-demand video. Common uses include:
- Low-latency live event, sports, and broadcast streaming to large audiences
- Secure enterprise and OTT video delivery with DRM and access control
- IP camera and surveillance ingest with adaptive web playback
- Interactive, real-time WebRTC and SRT contribution workflows
Deploying Wowza in a PoP near your audience shortens the path from ingest to viewer and reduces buffering. You can transcode and package regionally so adaptive streams reach local devices with minimal latency, and place ingest points close to venues and contributors for resilient live production.
